Eyebrows should be siblings, not twins

I once heard the oh-so-true saying that “brows should be siblings, not twins”.  Tweezing your eyebrows so that they line up perfectly can be agonizing.  And getting them professionally tweezed, waxed, or threaded each time can get expensive.  Instead, try mastering the steps below to get your brows in shape.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Tweezers – Invest in a good pair.  I love the Tweezerman Slant.  The company also offers lifetime sharpening. http://www.tweezerman.com/scripts/item.cfm?gc=B&sc=TZ&itemsku=1231T&topmenu=1&submenu=1
• Sharp cuticle scissors
• White eyeliner pencil
• Powder-based brow pencil − Brunettes should use a shade or two lighter than their hair color, and blondes should use a shade or two darker.  I only use Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre.  It has a great texture because it’s powder based instead of waxy, which tends to go on too thick and build up on brow hairs.

Now, you’re ready to get started.

1.) First, use the brow brush to comb your brows up.
2.) Then, trim the excess part of the hairs that extend beyond the hairline with cuticle scissors.
3.) Use white liner to mark the brow line below the brows. Any hairs on the other side of the pencil should be tweezed.  When tweezing, hold the skin taut with one hand and tweeze in the direction that the hair grows to avoid ingrown hairs.  Then, comb hairs downward and repeat the steps above.
4.) Take a pencil and place it vertically, straight up against the side of your nose.  This is where your brows should start.  Then place the pencil at a diagonal from your nose to the outer corner of your eye into your hairline.  This is where your brow should end.
5.) Find your natural arch by looking straight ahead where the iris is.  This is where you can begin to thin the brow and taper toward the end.
6.) Once you are finished, dab on antiseptic or cooling gel to prevent redness.
7.) With a light hand, use short upward strokes to fill in the area of the brows that are more sparse or thin with the brow pencil.  Start at the arch and work your way toward the ends.
8.) Use the spooley end of your brow pencil to blend.

It’s important to pluck one hair at a time.  Remember, once the hair is out, you can’t put it back.  Make sure to step back every once in a while and look at your brows from a few feet away.  It’s also important to stay with the natural shape of your brow and don’t try to create a shape that isn’t there, like an arch when your brows are naturally straight.  Don’t overdo it.  Natural brows are always in style.  Ultra thin are not.  Good luck and have fun!

I like the idea of using a pencil to limit plucking. Sometimes its hard to keep perspective when your trimming your brows! I like to keep my brows natural-looking and I was looking for a way to get the look I want! Thanks Breakthrough in Beauty! (<:
