Busy Mom Makeover in 90 Seconds Flat…cause that’s all I’ve got!

This morning, I shoved a few bites of granola into my mouth, kissed my toddler good bye, grabbed my purse and literally flew out of the house trying to make it to work on time, did I mention I have a newborn? While creeping along the 405 freeway, I managed to apply my makeup.  I peek in the mirror and viola!  Makeup is done and I look human again!  Whew….the life of a mom with small kids!

It seems like these days I barely have time for a shower much less makeup, so how do you ever leave the house (or at least get to work) without looking a wreck? I hate those articles that write about “simple” makeup. It may be realistic for busy women with no kids, but as a mom of two (a toddler and a new born), BUSY takes on a whole other meaning.  I need products that can do double duty.  BK – “before kids”, I often had nightmares about looking like the “typical mother of two.”  You know the one.  The one that always looks soooo exhausted. And then one day, wow I am her! So, in my quest to avoid this tragedy and look presentable in public, this is what I do (even if it has to be done in the car):

So step 1 is always use a tinted moisturizer (Stila, Jouer, or Chantacaille) this will cover up those bags and imperfections, step 2 is apply tinted blush (Blushing Bride by Tarte is my fav). I find that just a pop of color leaves a glow like when you were prego (luuvvv that look). And step 3 is mascara (who has time for the pesky under eye lashes?).  Just get 2 good coats on the top lashes and you will look alive. Total time 90 seconds. Sometimes, I do one step at a time in between feedings, changing a diaper or getting my 4 year old dressed. I will be writing more about simple ways to beautify (this is now my obsession).

As a busy business woman and a single mom, I have to make the most of my 90 seconds too, so I have pared my makeup down to mascara, spot cover and lip color. And I always get compliments on how fresh I look!
