Beach Bag Beauty Essentials

As the Go’s Go’s once sang, “Vacation, all I ever wanted…Vacation, had to get away…”  Summer is officially here, and for me that means enjoying some much needed relaxing days at the beach with my family. I can see it now; sun kissed skin, windblown hair, the ocean breeze at my face…chasing after my kids, fielding work emergencies from my laptop, applying aloe by the gallon, digging out sand from my bathing suit.  Ok, so the beach isn’t always as relaxing as it was as a carefree teenager, but it’s still one of my favorite places to be!  Having the right beauty essentials in my beach bag ensures I can look and feel as fabulous as I did when baby oil was still an appropriate form of sun protection and the Go’s Go’s were blasting from my boombox.

Here’s my don’t leave home without it beach beauty must have’s:

-Clinique City Block Sheer Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF 25, $17.50 – I am crazy about the lightweight texture of Clinique’s City Block. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave the greasy residue many sunscreens can. Your skin will feel fresh and protected, and it’s great for sensitive skin too.
-Cargo Water Resistant Bronzer, $28.00 – This bronzer gives me a gorgeous naturally tanned look, and it stays in place through perspiration and water. Because while it’s important to stay protected from sun damage who doesn’t love a perfect summer glow.
-Frederick Fekkai Summer Hair Beachcomber Leave-In Conditioner, $23.00 – As anyone with color treated hair knows excessive sun exposure can really do some damage. So, I spray in Fekkai’s leave in condition throughout the day. It protects my color and leaves my hair shiny and soft for my post beach festivities.
-Burt’s Bees Sun Protecting Lip Balm, $3.00 – I love this lip balm, it protects my lips from sun burn while keep them conditioned and smooth. It also gives the perfect subtle shine.
-Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Body Mist Sunblock, $9.99 – This product is so convenient. I am constantly re-applying my sunscreen and Neutrogena’s Cooling Mist is so easy to use. It‘s also super refreshing while providing great protection.
-Evian Mineral Water Spray, $11.00– This is my summer indulgence! Spritzing your skin with Evian will keep it soothed, hydrated and clean all day.

In addition to my essential summer beauty items, I can’t leave the house without my favorite sunglasses, a fabulous cover up, a cute pair of flip flops and of course a fully stocked i-pod filled with my favorite summer hits. Then I’m off…armed and ready for a gorgeous day at the beach.

Bananarama said “It’s a cruel summer”, I say it doesn’t have to be!
